Metropolitan transport company HSL is preparing for another delay in launching the western branch of metro, extending the contract with bus carriers.
HSL decided to extend the purchase of compensating transport services until the summer of 2018, if it is necessary, because Lansimetro has not announced yet the exact date of the launch of a new metro line.
Now, buses run instead of the subway under construction, but the term of the contract with bus companies expires on August 13.
"Buses will run along this route until metro is opened. We can not leave people without transport", HSL executive director Suvi Rikhtniemi said.
Originally, the opening of a new metro line with eight new stations was planned on August 2016, but later, due to security problems, this date was postponed to January 2017, then - to April, and at the beginning of this year it was said that the western line would be put into operation no earlier than in August.
