Finland law enforcement authorities are investigating the case of preparing a terrorist act that could be committed last weekend at a church in a rock.
According to the Central Criminal Police of Finland, the authorities received information on the basis of which one can suspect that a terrorist attack was being prepared in Helsinki. The purpose of the alleged attack was to become a church in the rock (Temppeliaukion kirkko) - a well-known tourist attraction of the city.
On Sunday, 18th of June, in the center of the Finnish capital, a special operation was carried out to capture the suspect. In this connection, the traffic near the church was limited. The authorities did not comment on what was happening. The police gave a brief message that the suspect was never detained only in the evening. On 19th of, June, in front of the church, concrete blocks impedig the passage of cars were hastily installed.
According to the police, at the moment everything is being done to find out all the details of the attack that was being prepared. Law enforcement officers assured that they constantly analyze the situation and ensure the security of citizens. At the moment, "there is no need to take further actions, similar to the operation carried out on Sunday."
It is worth recalling, that last week the Finnish Security Police raised the level of terrorist attack threat from low to high (the second on a four-digit scale).
