Ivanov Day (Juhannus) will be celebrated on the Seurasaari island.
Juhannus (Juhannuspaiva) will be celebrated across Finland on 24th of June, and there will be festive festivities on the night from Friday to Saturday. The main fire of the capital will be traditionally lit on 23th of June on the Seurasaari island.
The holiday will begin on 23th of June at 16:00 on the Seurasaari island, just 15 minutes away from the center of the Finnish capital. Guests will hear the sound of kantele and folk songs. Those who wish can learn how to dance Finnish country dances, and also see how professional artists do it.
Children will be offered to take part in decorating a festive pole with crossbars. Traditionally, birch branches, ribbons and flowers are hung on to "salko". There will be a playground with swing.
The main fire will be lit at 21:55. The festivities will last until 01:00.
Tickets for the event cost from 23 euros, children under 12 years can go for free.
