On Monday, June 26, started a weekly program of events aimed at improving the rights of sexual minorities and drawing attention to their problems. It takes place in the Finnish capital.
The theme of Pride Week 2017 was "Freedom and responsibility", which intersects with the centennial anniversary of independence of Finland. The organizers intend to launch a discussion on human rights, equality and equity.
The main event of the week will be the gay parade, which will be held on Saturday, July 1. Exactly at midnight, the column will move through the center of the city from Kansalistori Square to Kaivopuisto Park, where participants plan to have a picnic. As previously reported, Helsinki police also will join the parade.
