Minister of Justice launches dismissal process for Prosecutor General
Antti Häkkänen (NCP), the Minister of Justice, has announced his decision to propose that Matti Nissinen be relieved of his responsibilities as the Prosecutor General of Finland - writes helsinkitimes.fi.
“I have decided to launch the dismissal process for the prosecutor general. The government will make its decision on the dismissal based on my proposal on Thursday,” he confirmed on Twitter on Wednesday.
Häkkänen also said he would shed more light on the reasons for his decision after today's government session.
Nissinen was recently convicted of violation of official duty for his failure to disqualify himself from a decision-making process related to the acquisition of management coaching services for the Prosecutor’s Office from Deep Lead, a consulting firm affiliated with his brother. He was issued a fine of 1,720 euros in December by the Supreme Court of Finland.
The Ministry of Justice on Wednesday announced it has concluded its internal evaluation and determined that Nissinen is no longer capable of performing the duties of the Prosecutor General.
