The winners of the two biggest European football tournaments - the Europa League and the Champions League - can define the strongest by having a match at the renovated Olympic stadium in Helsinki. The Finnish capital has already applied for the UEFA Super Cup in 2020.
The head of the Football Association of Finland, Marco Casagrande said that he wants to bring the best players and the best teams in Suomi. He noted that UEFA knows the reputation of Finland as a good organizer of major sports tournaments.
In addition to Helsinki, French Lyon, Portuguese Porto and Belfast in Northern Ireland will compete for the UEFA Super Cup match.
The decision on the venue for the match of the winners of the Europa League and the Champions League will be taken in May.
Recall that the reconstruction of the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki will end in 2019. After that, the main arena of the Finnish capital will be able to accommodate 36 thousand people.
